spring

gold adorns
crowns of palo verde
wind casts her
blossoms to ground
dusky cope of gold

summer

midnight curls
around the fragrant mint –
indigo pools on stony ground
quells the distant hum
of stars in a moonless sky

fall

thunder runs like
water across the
lake of the sky
coyotes howl
to scare away the sound

winter

half moon rising
snowy peaks gleam
sunset sky calling
nighthawks, i
run the river
